Synthesis: States of Becoming is a twelve-painting series by Kevin Trivedi exploring transformation, identity, nature, and mythic feminine energy.
Created as a complete body of work, the series brings the figure into conversation with earth, water, air, light, and fire. Each painting presents a moment of becoming, where the human form is not separate from the natural world but fused with it.
These works are not traditional portraits. They are symbolic states of presence, emotion, and transformation.
Artist Statement
Synthesis: States of Becoming began with a question: what happens when the figure is no longer placed within nature, but becomes part of it?
Across twelve acrylic paintings, I explored the relationship between the body, the landscape, and the unseen forces that shape identity. The series moves through four visual arcs: earth, water, air and light, and fire. Each arc presents a different kind of transformation.
In these paintings, the figure becomes rooted, submerged, lifted, and ignited. The body is treated as a vessel for emotional, spiritual, and elemental change. The women in the series are not passive subjects. They are presences. They hold the space between the physical and symbolic world.
The title Synthesis refers to the merging of opposites: figure and landscape, realism and abstraction, stillness and motion, vulnerability and strength. Each painting invites the viewer to consider becoming not as a single destination, but as an ongoing state of transformation.
The Four Arcs
Arc I: From the Earth

This opening arc is grounded in nature, memory, and emergence. The figure is connected to trees, roots, leaves, and organic forms. These paintings suggest a return to origin, where identity is formed through stillness, reflection, and connection to the natural world.
Works in this arc:
Looking Inward
A meditative figure turns inward, surrounded by organic forms that suggest growth, reflection, and quiet transformation.
One with Nature
The boundary between body and landscape dissolves as the figure becomes part of the living world around her.
Emergence
A moment of arrival and awakening, where the figure rises from the natural environment into a new state of presence.
Arc II: Lucid Fluidity

The second arc moves into water, emotion, and dreamlike transformation. These works are more fluid, atmospheric, and introspective. The figure becomes immersed in a world of currents, reflections, and shifting perception.
Works in this arc:
In Her Depth
A figure surrounded by blue and aquatic forms suggests emotional depth, intuition, and the mysteries beneath the surface.
Equinox
A balance point between states, where figure, color, and atmosphere meet in a moment of transition.
Veiled by the Sea
The figure appears partially hidden and partially revealed, as if shaped by water, memory, and the veil between inner and outer worlds.
Arc III: Ascension

The third arc turns upward. These paintings explore lightness, air, elevation, and spiritual expansion. The figure becomes less bound to the earth and more connected to sky, movement, and transcendence.
Works in this arc:
Skyward Smile
A moment of uplift and openness, where the figure appears connected to joy, air, and upward motion.
Apsara
Inspired by celestial and mythic feminine imagery, this painting presents the figure as a dancer-like presence between the human and divine.
Enlightenment
The figure becomes a symbol of illumination, suggesting clarity, awakening, and expanded consciousness.
Arc IV: Forged with Fire

The final arc brings the series into heat, intensity, and transformation through fire. These works are bold, dramatic, and charged with energy. Fire becomes both destructive and creative, a force that burns away the old and reveals something powerful beneath.
Works in this arc:
PyraNova
A fiery transformation, where the figure radiates heat, color, and explosive energy.
Forgotten Knowledge
A symbolic image of memory, mystery, and ancient power, suggesting knowledge carried through time and transformation.
Eternal
The closing work of the series, where the figure becomes enduring, mythic, and elemental. Fire is no longer only change. It becomes permanence.
Together, the twelve paintings of Synthesis: States of Becoming form a visual journey through transformation. The series begins in the earth, moves through water, rises into air and light, and culminates in fire.
Each painting stands on its own, but together they create a larger narrative about change, resilience, and the ongoing process of becoming.
